Share is simply a sector's slice of the currently filtered network's total exposure that quarter — how big it is.

PageRank is a topology measure, independent of size: computed by power iteration on that same filtered graph (damping α = 0.85, ~120 iterations): summed over every j with an edge into i (a sector with no outgoing edges redistributes its rank uniformly instead of trapping it).

In plain terms: imagine a single peso bouncing endlessly through the network. At each step it jumps from its current sector to one of that sector's counterparties, chosen in proportion to exposure size — e.g. if Banks' exposure is 70% to Households and 30% to Government, the peso follows Households 70% of the time. 15% of the time (1−α), instead of following an edge, it teleports to a uniformly random sector. PR(i) is the probability of finding that peso sitting at sector i at any given moment, once this has played out for a very long time.

Assets PageRank runs on the reversed graph (arrows flipped), so it accumulates at sectors many others hold claims on. Liabilities PageRank runs on the graph as stored (creditor→debtor), accumulating at sectors that owe many others.

A sector can be small by Share but high by PageRank if its few ties are to very central counterparties — that gap is the point of showing both.

Recomputed every frame while the simulation is warm; not a fixed embedding, so it never changes what the data means — only how it's arranged on screen.

Repulsion — every pair of nodes pushes apart: applied along the line between them (Coulomb-like). An extra term kicks in once d is less than the sum of their radii + 30, to stop them overlapping.

Link strength (springs) — each edge pulls its two nodes toward a rest length: where w_norm is that edge's exposure as a fraction of the largest edge shown — heavier exposures pull shorter and harder.

Damping — velocity ×= Damping every frame, so higher values keep more energy (bouncier, slower to settle) and lower values bleed it off faster (stiller). All forces are also scaled by a cooling factor that starts high and decays every frame until the layout is still.
